Origin and meaning of JIK association logo
“This logo for JugendInterKult was created during our Normandy holiday in August 2012, at the Hidden Bay Café in Cayeux-sur-Mer.
We would like to express the goals of the association JugendInterKult e.V., with this design: The support of international youth exchange and intercultural understanding, as well as being globally active in the form of international youth exchange. The blue globe is thereby intended to consciously evoke the association with our blue planet Earth.
The three letters of the association JIK are consciously designed in a slightly amorphous outer mould, in order to evoke the outlines of continents / countries / islands. Arranged in a circle and surrounded by the blue of the ocean, they signal a worldwide encompassing international itinerancy.
At the same time, the uneven, limited, creaturely forms reveal a lively interplay of differences – a game between partners – and symbolize the encounter in international youth exchange, which can take place in a playful way. A game with the ball– the dot on the i –, a ball that makes all directions possible and stands for the whole, moved by all and kept moving.
The centerpiece of the logo is the i, which – slightly alienated – is recognisable as a human, whereby the i stands for intercultural. It is therefore about people in intercultural relations.“
